Getting to Know Mrs. Palmatier
I am looking forward to a successful 2018-19 school year. This is my 22nd year in education with the past 14 years working for DeWitt Public Schools. I feel very fortunate to serve as principal at Schavey Road Elementary. Prior to my time in DeWitt, I served as an elementary counselor and teacher for St. Johns Public Schools. I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Dayton in Elementary Education. I attended the Michigan Association of School Principal's Pathway to Leadership Program for my K-12 administration certificate. I believe that a safe and positive school climate are key elements in creating an environment where learning can take place. All students at Schavey are entitled to a quality education where all learners can experience success. I believe that parent involvement and communication is essential in ensuring the development of educational partnerships with one another. Together, we can ensure that our children experience a safe, positive and successful learning experience during their time spent at Schavey Elementary School. I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, who are very active in sports and outdoor activities. I have 16 nieces and nephews and treasure my times spent with family. I enjoy golfing in the summer months along with relaxing at the cabin.
